Every term the app uses, in plain English.
- Action
- Something a student is asked to do, such as redoing a question. Assigned from the marksheet; appears on reports. See also Link.
- Assessment objective (AO)
- A skill the exam board assesses, such as AO4 Evaluation in English. Some papers tag each question with AOs.
- Boundary

- Boundary series
- Which summer’s overall boundaries are used for working-at grades, such as June 2024.
- Buffer
- A percentage added to boundaries to make grades slightly harder to reach, so borderline students are not told they are safe.
- Class pack
- Every student’s mock report for one class in a single file, for printing.
- Data collection
- A snapshot of every student’s grades at one point in the year, used for reports and comparison.

- Locked paper
- A recent paper the board keeps behind its secure login so schools can use it as a mock.
- Mock
- One sitting of one past paper by a tracker’s students.
- Notional component boundaries
- The boards’ boundaries for a single paper, used to grade a mock on that paper.
- Predicted grade
- The teacher’s judgement of the final grade.
- Progress report
- A report across the year, made as part of a data collection.
- Status
- Where a grade sits against target: above (blue), on (green), one below (amber), two or more below (red).
- Target
- The minimum grade the school expects a student to reach. Shown as a dashed chip.
- Target grid
- How many more marks each higher grade needs, such as “2 to a 5 · 7 to a 6”.
- Tier

- Tracker
- One qualification for one year group, such as Year 11 AQA English Language, shared by every class taking it.
